Tower Crane Installation

Here are photo's from June 6th of the Manitowoc 18000 installing a tower crane. The mast was installed over night and the rest of the crane was pput together during the day. The part that I mainly wanted to see go on was the boom, and lucky we were able to see that. When we arrivied the A-Frame was just getting bolted in, meaning we missed the lift by only a few minutes. After a long 3 hours of waiting, at 1:00PM the boom was finaly lifted in.

Sadly I have found out that the 18000 is nearing completion at Ground Zero. It has about 1 month left as its leaving in July. It will be sad to see it go.

CAT 345 digging demo debris

After not updating for awhile I am back on. The reason for it is simply I have nothing new to update. Anyone following my videos can see the ones I am uploading are old ones I have, I haven't seen anything new working in a over a month but with less then 3 weeks of school left the summer is right around the corner so I will have some new stuff then.

Today I bring you photo's of one of my favorites machines, a 345BL. This one was working around the block from me which was great and I had access on site after school. When I took this video/pics it was a cold December day but I didn't mind. If you look closely at the pics you can tell it was alot of metal and concrete mixed together. This all went into a sorter (video and pics to follow)

(All pictures can be clicked on to view larger!)

If you look to the right in the pic below you can see another excavator. It is a Cat 320, he took all the metal from the 345

Downtown Manhattan

Today we took a trip to downtown Manhattan to visit Ground Zero and another site that I knew about (West 35TH and 10TH AVE) The reason for visiting 35th and 10th was because of the tower crane at this site, I have never seen a non-luffing tower crane in NY so we figured why not go and visit it. After visiting it we seen that you can get right below it, even as close where when he swings the counterweights are literally above your ahead. Most of the pictures and video from today were of tower cranes which I am glad because I do not have much pics and videos of.

Drill rig on a street

Walking home from school on Friday I spotted a mast of a Bauer drill. After walking over to it I found it was a BG24. This morning I was hoping it would still be on the street and luckly it was, it isn't often that I can find one on a street so enjoy!

Train Horns

Here is one of my favorite videos from the demolition of a hospital around the block from me. If you notice in the video when he blows the horn, which there are 3 per truck, it "scares the shit outta me" as I told the guy I knew there... lol These are some of the loudest trucks I have heard

Filming

When ever I watch a youtube video I always wonder where was it filmed, what camera, how was it filmed ETC. I made this video to show everyone me and my brother vinny (www.youtube.com/cat325ccr) filmed the reconstruction of the World Trade Center site on February 22 &23, 2011. We shot all the videos and pictures from the 40th floor APX. 450 feet in the air from a small tiny window that opened just enough to fit a lens through. I was an amazing experience to say the last, staying up until 2AM watching the Mani. 18000 lift iron. All together there was around 200 gig taken between the two of us in the two days. The video shows just alittle of how it was done, I am mad that I did get a video of pictures of us filming at night with hats and gloves on out the window... lol

Enjoy!

A Loaded Barge

Here are pictures from Saturday (3-26-11). One reason why I like to photograph and film this massive dredge is mainly because of how rare it is throughout the world. This exact machine has been on many TV shows including the Discovery Channel. Luckily this time the barge was just about loaded which made it great to see the bucket dumping the material. Enjoy the pictures and the video will be uploaded soon!

Housing Development

Early this morning (Sunday) we took a ride out to one of my family members house who happens to live in a brand new housing development which is still under construction. To this date 700 homes have been built and 500 more are on the way, 5 more years of construction! The site is in a reclaimed quarry/sand pit and some of the machines from the quarry are still there. One of my favorite machines there would be the scrapers, being it is mostly rock where I live, its not everyday I see these machines.

Driving out there it is mostly farmland

Entering the construction zone
Here is a Komatsu D65E-8, one of the old machines from the quarry

And the rest of the machines

There were many other machines there such as a Cat 345BL, Komatsu HM300, PC400 excavator and some other dozers but were to far of a walk.

Enjoy!
